Men need help

One of my coworkers said she didn't need an excuse to beat up a man so I had to pull out the "I'm sorry women"

This is something I posted today on the comic site I use, and one guy replied so confused as to why anyone would ever say that and like...I feel like if you haven't heard a woman say they hate men in some capacity then you're probably one of the men they hate.

I wasn't that rude, I tried to be nice but by the end of the convo I told him honestly that women might not feel comfortable around him enough to make those kinds of jokes

Definitely a little mean, but like either it's a teen that needs to learn early or an adult that us embarrassing themselves with that much confusion. I'm a pretty sheltered nerd myself but I forget that a lot of men just outright don't talk to women.

Which just boggles my mind, like, logistically speaking—I mean, as the only son of a single mother who works with a female-leaning industry, I’m looking down from a bit of an ivory tower here, but I can’t help but think that kind of blinding apathy takes active effort to maintain at some point (at least initially, until women stop talking to/around them in turn).

Or if they talk to women, they don't listen to them.

I'm reminded of last year(?)'s confusion around the 'women, would you rather be alone in the woods with a strange man or a bear?' viral question and why so many women (myself included) would pick the bear.

Sometimes those kinds of questions are such a double whammy like, you suffer from misogyny AND a media literacy problem? Please just pick one struggle.

There's a good chance that this guy might be the type women feel would respond with either actual violence or a "joke" (except it's a violent threat of disproportionate magnitude).

It's a hard thing to learn, but it's probably better to learn it from someone who is trying to be nice.
