Just an update post
Mar. 16th, 2026 05:09 pmI got into the anthology I had talked about in my last post. First time being published. Maybe the last too, so I'm pretty excited and nervous. I'm suddenly feeling the pressure to dedicate myself more to this if there's an actual chance I could maybe break through somewhere. I'm just one of many many people to be chosen for this, but it still could've been easy to reject my story, so it still means something. My co-workers thought it was the coolest shit lmao.
And well maybe partially because of this new pressure (But mostly because people on my comic site have gotten me into the mood for it) I'm going back to a simpler time, going back to a comic I know isn't deep but is still near and dear to my heart because it was the first time I truly felt how different superhero comics can feel with it's deep continuity and long ongoing stories that can last like a decade. Geoff Johns' Green Lantern basically has the feeling of a good shonen manga while still being firmly a superhero comic with all it's conventions. Dude just knows how to write cool shit and unlike basically everywhere else that's all I need out of Green Lantern. And yeah, the opening shot for the almost decade long run still rocks. Taking a franchise that had kinda gone off the rails and bringing it back to prominence via reinstating a lot of the old status quo but doing so in a way that feels fresh and adds new layers.(Unfortunately I'm legally obligated to say that the artist for these screenshots is one of the most notorious assholes in comics, being a big mover and shaker in Comicsgate, which yes, is just GamerGate for comics)
